Air Canada announced a new non-stop flight between Montreal and Cozumel, yesterday.

The Canadian carrier said the route will start this winter and fly to the island every Thursday.

As part of the airline's wider announcement about expanding routes to "sun destinations", Ben Smith, Executive Vice President and Chief Commercial Officer, said, "Air Canada continues to offer the largest choice of non-stop flights of any carrier between Canada and more than 50 winter sun destinations".

120-seat Airbus A319 aircraft will be used on the new route, which is part of almost 70 flights that Air Canada now operates to Mexican destinations.

It will compliment the direct flights Air Canada already makes between Toronto and Cozumel.
