A new five year plan is being introduced to study and protect Cozumel's reefs, reported Mexican newspaper Por Esto! earlier this week. The paper said the plan is part of the "Mesoamerican Reef Tourism Initiative" - an ecological project organised by international conservation organisations.

A new Cozumel guide book has just been launched and 20% of profits will go to Cozumel children's charity Chrysalis.
"Cozumel: The Complete Guide", by Patrica A. Holt, draws on years' of research and has already had a post-Wilma update. It contains comprehensive information about the island, including lists of hotels, bars, restaurants and dive operators.
