Hurricane Wilma was a record breaker. She was the largest recorded Atlantic hurricane when she formed and she was the longest in duration too, hanging over the island for some 60 hours. Now Cozumel's speedy recovery will also make the record books.

Where did Wilma go?

Wilma formed in the Caribbean Sea south-west of Jamaica and then moved north-west towards Cozumel and Mexico's Yucatan Peninsula - moving very slowly and gathering strength. Her eye passed over the north of Cozumel then on to the Mayan Riviera coast before taking a turn north east, scraping past Cuba and heading on to cross Florida, before breaking up in the North Atlantic.
