Cozumel's Parks Authority is overseeing the investment of over 1.5 million dollars in Chankanaab and Punta Sur parks in Cozumel, reported Mexican newspaper Por Esto! this week. They also said that Dolphin Discovery, the private operator of Chankanaab's dolphin attraction, is spending some 150,000 dollars on improvements, quoting Aurelio Joaquín González, the General Director of the Parks Authority.

The money will be spent on repairing damage caused by Wilma, including new palapa sunshades and lifeguard towers on Chankanaab's beach, and replanting jungle and mangroves in Punta Sur. The paper added that the dolphin attraction at Chankanaab is expected to partially re-open in March and fully resume operations by June.
