The world-famous endurance race, Ironman, once again served up its trademark mix of swift currents, sizzling heat, and high-octane racing in Cozumel, this week.

France's Arthur Horseau mastered it all. Despite exiting the swim well behind the leaders, he powered through the bike and sealed the day with a commanding marathon, tearing through the triathlon finishing line first in just 7 hours 48 minutes and 18 seconds. Israel's Almog Elazary and Sweden's Sebastian Norberg completed the men's podium after a tight late-race showdown.

The women's race was a showcase of Austrian dominance, with Lisa Perterer delivering a wire-to-wire performance that left no doubt. After staying with the front pack in the swim, she quickly took control on the bike and never let the gap shrink, cruising to victory in 8 hours 29 minutes and 29 seconds. Sweden's Sara Svensk claimed second, and Poland's Marta Lagownik rounded out the top three.

With fast conditions and fierce battles across the course, Ironman Cozumel once again proved why it's a favorite on the global triathlon calendar, forming part of the Ironman World Series.

The Ironman World Championship was started in Hawaii in 1978 and has grown in popularity year-on-year. Thousands of competitors from across the planet take part in this Cozumel endurance event every November.

The 2.4 mile (3.8 km) swim begins at the island's Chankanaab Park where athletes experience a picturesque swim with colorful fish and coral reefs during the two-loop course.

Following the first gruelling challenge is a 112 mile (180 km) cycle race on the roads around Cozumel, before finishing with a 26 mile (42 km) run, encompassing the downtown center of Cozumel.

If you're feeling strong enough and like a challenge, registrations for the 2026 race on November 22 are open now!
