At This is Cozumel we're celebrating our 20th anniversary — two decades of sharing the magic of Cozumel with the world! We want to thank all our readers, partners, and amazing customers for their loyalty and support over the years.
We don't feel old though! We are 20 years young and are more passionate than ever about helping people find news and information about Cozumel, and book the best things to do.
Our journey began in the aftermath of Hurricane Wilma in 2005. Our small site — originally called Wilma Cozumel — was launched at the end of October 2005 to share hope, positivity, and reliable information about Cozumel's incredible recovery.
While many focused on the massive storm's destruction, we talked about the island's resilience — highlighting the community spirit, rapid recovery, and all the good news that proved Cozumel was back and stronger than ever.
From posting the first photos of power and water being restored, to celebrating the return of cruise ships and flights, our early stories captured an island community determined to shine again. You can still explore those early moments in our 2005 Archive.
By 2006, as Cozumel's tourism flourished once more, we rebranded as thisiscozumel.com — marking a new era of growth and discovery. The island was thriving, and so were we!
Over the years, we've evolved from a small news site into one of the island's top online travel resources — offering an extensive tourist guide, incredible tours and excursions, and expert advice for visitors from all over the world.
Today, This is Cozumel connects with over 55,000 followers across our website, social media, and newsletters, and we're proud to be one of Cozumel's most trusted names for travel and adventure — with thousands of happy guests and glowing TripAdvisor reviews.
To celebrate our 20th year, we're launching exciting new tours, enhancing our website experience, and introducing special anniversary offers. Stay tuned — the next chapter of This is Cozumel is just beginning!
