lifestyle, travel This is Cozumel

Book now! Cozumel COVID tests have been readily available on the island since last summer and vacationers from the US will have plenty of choice when new Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) requirements come into effect, later this month.

The CDC announced, last week, that all international air passengers arriving to the US from January 26, 2021 will need to get tested and present a negative result to their airline before boarding. This includes Americans returning from vacation in Mexico or anywhere else overseas.

Returning vacationers will need to be tested no more than 3 days before their flight departs and they must have a viral test (NAAT or antigen test). These tests are already available in Cozumel at reasonable prices and there is plenty of capacity.

Some larger hotels on the island are offering Cozumel COVID tests for free at their resorts, including Secrets and Sunscape, the Cozumel Palace, the Fiesta Americana and The Explorean.

For those not staying at hotels that offer the tests, there are also a number of private clinics that offer them instead and we have a reservation service available for a $15 fee on our website here.

We expect high demand and recommend you plan ahead and make the appointment at least 10 days before your return flight departs, to guarantee getting an appointment at a time and date that will work for you. We also recommend getting a rapid antigen test which usually gives you the results within hours. PCR tests are also available but can take 24-48 hours to give results, so may be harder to schedule in the required 72 hours before your flight departs.
