Cozumel Carnival 2018 kicks off for real this evening, with the first Grand Parade. To get you in the party mood we've selected 5 cracking photos from this year's warm up events, but remember, the best is yet to come!

The island's spectacular annual Mardis Gras has over 130 years of history and sees dazzling technicolor processions along Cozumel's downtown seafront. People line the street, dancing with the performers and catching the gifts that are showered on them.

The biggest celebrations begin with the first Grand Parade along the oceanfront downtown tonight, Saturday, at 6pm and will be continued with the second Grand Parade tomorrow, Sunday, also at 6pm, followed by free live music from Las Estrellas De Niche in City Hall Park, at 8pm.

The most spectacular costumes, music and dancing are saved for the final Grand Parade on Fat Tuesday, also kicking off at 6pm, and the downtown area will be packed with multi.colored revellers dancing in the streets and Carnival music booming out across the sea.

Once the parade finishes attention will focus on City Hall Park again, with a live latin music concert by world-famous Colombian singer, Margarita "La Diosa de la Cumbia", beginning at 10pm and sure to keep the party going long into the night.
