  The aptly named MSC Lirica cruise ship is in Cozumel today as part of "Jam Cruise", a music festival at sea.

This is the 6th time the cruise has been organized and this year features live performances from Warren Haynes, Michael Franti and Spearhead, and many others.

  Global online travel company, Orbitz, said last week that Cozumel was the fastest growing international winter beach destination in 2007.

Mexico topped the Caribbean with 7 of the top 10 beach destinations, including the top 3.

Ground-Breaking Environment Agreement

The agreement aims to protect reefs.

A ground-breaking agreement was signed last week that aims to minimize environmental damage by cruise ships in Cozumel.

With more than 10,000 passengers arriving on ships to the island on some days, it has an important role to play.

The agreement was signed as part of a wider initiative to help the reef that runs along the Caribbean coast of Central America, south from Cozumel.

Cozumel Carnival King and Queen

The new King and Queen for Cozumel Carnival 2008 were chosen on Saturday night.

Jalil Martín Gaeta and Andrea Chacón Núñez were voted the winners at a dance and music spectacular attended by more than 6,500 noisy spectators.
