Following rumors earlier this month, the Trump Organization said yesterday that it has, at least for now, shelved plans for a controversial new development on the island. Trump's spokesperson, Selma Langer, told This is Cozumel that they were "looking at a project in Cozumel, but the project is not being pursued at this particular time". She declined to give further details. |

Work started on the construction of a new 'luxury marina complex' in Cozumel earlier this month. The Mexican Secretary for Tourism, Rodolfo Elizondo Torres, and the head of the National Fund for Tourism Promotion, Miguel Gómez Mont, visited the island to lay the first stone. The project, called Marina Cozumel, will have space for 330 boats, hotels, residential properties, shops, a pier, pathes, cycle ways and public spaces. |
