lifestyle, travel This is Cozumel

Organizers announced, this week, that 40 restaurants and bars are now signed up to appear at November's Playa del Carmen Taste of Playa International Food Festival.

This will be the second such culinary congress following the event's huge success last year, and takes place on the mainland just a short ferry ride from Cozumel Island.

Over the past decade Cozumel and the Riviera Maya have become home to hundreds of chefs from around the world.

Playa del Carmen food festival.
Unique culinary perspectives.
Drawing from this talent, food wizards from the length of the Mexican Caribbean will be showing off their kitchen skills.

The aim is to celebrate the diverse cultural influences of local chefs and promote culinary perspectives that have contributed to the area's cosmopolitan reputation.

Returning for the second season are Playa del Carmen favorites such as Babe’s Noodles and Bar, Zenzi Beach Club, Zabor, Diablito Cha Cha Cha, Los Aguachiles, Fusion and El Bistro at La Tortuga.

Off the Vine, the Dirty Martini Lounge and the Tequila Barrel will once again provide signature cocktails and other beverages to a crowd that is anticipated to exceed 5,000 attendees.

In addition to sampling dishes from some of the best local culinary talent, attendees will be able to shop at the Taste of Playa Marketplace where a collection of local food merchants will promote and sell their specialty food products.

And visitors that wish to delight their tastebuds will do so in a good cause too: proceeds from the event go to a local Rotary Club food education program to the benefit of children and families of the Riviera Maya.

Taste of Playa 2010 will take place on November 21, 2010, from 3pm til 9pm, in Playa del Carmen’s Parque Fundadores. The event is open to the public, with tickets and all-inclusive VIP passes. "Taste of Playa Pesos" will be available to purchase the signature dishes offered.

For more about the event visit the Taste of Playa website or find Cozumel restaurants for great eating on the island too.
