A white marlin weighing 33 kg (72.6 lbs) won top prize in Cozumel's 34th Annual Fishing Tournament earlier this month. The prize fish was caught on the second day of the competition by the boat Free Zone, captained by Peter Iwaskiewych of Belize.
130 boats entered the competition, which was opened by Félix González Canto, Governor of the State of Quintana Roo. The 6 entrants that finished with most points after 2 days fishing each won a brand new car, as well as cash prizes worth thousands of dollars.
