Hanal Pixan is the original local Mayan pre-Hispanic tradition that pre-dates the Day of the Dead. In Mexico, the pre-Hispanic traditions mixed with the Spanish Catholic traditions to create the Day of the Dead later, so this is a great opportunity to learn about the whole history and culture from many hundreds of years ago until today.
