Mexico's flag carrier airline, Aeromexico, announced, last week, a new direct daily route between Mexico City and Cozumel beginning on October 1, 2015.

The airline said the new route will help Cozumel by connecting it via Mexico City to 16 cities in the United States, 15 in Latin America, three in Canada, three in Europe and two in Asia.

The flights will depart every day from Mexico's capital city at 12 noon and depart from Cozumel for the return journey at 2.50pm. They will use Embraer 145 jets, with seating for 50 passengers.

Aeromexico forms part of the Skyteam airline alliance which includes Delta Airlines, offering preferential fares and connections to their destinations too.

Cozumel will become the 46th destination that Aeromexico serves in Mexico.
