The director of Cozumel airport, Simón Salazar, announced, last week, that some $240,000 is being invested in improvements at the terminal.

He said the money will be spent on remodeling passenger arrival and departure areas, for the greater comfort of visitors to the island.

The work will include a new extended roof to the building, which will protect passengers from the sun and rain when they are waiting to board their plane.

Salazar said work on improvements inside Cozumel airport will also be completed, including the documentation areas and bathrooms.

He added that new plans are being considered to change the stone façade of the terminal building that dates from 2002, and replace it with panels to give a more modern appearance.
