The countdown to Cozumel Carnival 2013 has started!

Colorful dancers are popping up on streets downtown and party music is once again filling the air.

The Carnival dates have been confirmed and the main week of events will take place from Wednesday, February 6 to Wednesday, February 13, 2013, with the biggest night being Mardi Gras on Fat Tuesday, February 12, 2013.

Volunteers Help Make Cozumel Ironman Success

Volunteers helped make the fourth Cozumel Ironman endurance competition a huge success, last weekend.

Locals and visitors to the island gave up their time to support official event staff, as over 2,600 athletes from more than 70 countries swam, cycled and ran past the cheering crowds.

Island Wildlife: Cozumel Island Coatis

The latest article in our Island Wildlife series examines Cozumel's coatis.

These cute looking fellows are close relatives of the White-Nosed Coati (Nasua narica) that lives nearby on the mainland.

Similar to some other local mammals, isolation on the island has led them to evolve into a distinct breed (Nasua nelsoni) that is only found in Cozumel.
