People that have visited Cozumel know it is quiet, secure and family-friendly, but the subject of safety in other parts of Mexico has been in the news recently following the U.S. government's latest travel advisory.

Cozumel To Host World Famous Regatta

Yacht race to visit Cozumel.
 

Mexico's president, Felipe Calderón, was in Cozumel, yesterday, to announce that the island will host part of the 2013/2014 Clipper Round The World Yacht Race.

The world famous regatta will see exciting activities centered around the island's new marina, which is expected to be operational in the next two months.

Increase In Cozumel Airport Traffic

More air passengers.
 

Cozumel airport saw a busy March, with the number of passengers traveling through the international terminal 7.2% higher than the same period in 2011.

Yesterday, airport operator, ASUR, said a total of 65,354 people used the airport last month, an average of over 2,100 each day.

Fairs, Feasts, Music And Beasts

There is only a week to go until the start of this year's historic El Cedral Festival in Cozumel.

April 28 to May 3, 2012, will see a celebration of rodeos, bullfights, music, dancing, feasts and more, all centered around the old village of El Cedral in the south of the island.
