Locals and tourists gathered in the park in front of Cozumel's City Hall, on Tuesday night, to be thrilled by an inspiring performance by the Cuban National Ballet.

Proving ballet is not just for the elite, dancers wooed the audience with a flawless production of the classic, "Swan Lake".

The original interpretation of Tchaikovsky's famous work was directed and choreographed by Alicia Alonso, and told the romantic story of a princess turned into a swan by curse.

Flawless performance.

Alonso, now 90 years old, is considered one of history's best ever ballet dancers, recognized by her rare and prestigious title "Prima Ballerina Assoluta".

The experience and magic of Alonso shined through in every enchanting move the 62 artists made, and the Cozumel audience showed their appreciation with loud applause at the end of each of the 4 parts.

The Cozumel event was part of a tour by the Cuban company that has also included visits to Cancun and Chetumal.

Tomorrow night, they will conclude with their final performance in front of the cathedral in Merida, Yucatan, where they are sure to thrill the crowds once again.
