Your journey starts downtown where you board your four-wheel drive vehicle and get ready for a real Cozumel adventure!

Your guide will give you a safety briefing and away you go to experience the beauty of the island.

San Gervasio ruins (morning tour only).

First stop is at the Mayan ruins at San Gervasio (morning tour only). Although smaller than many ruins on the mainland, this archaeological site has an unusually long history, beginning sometime around 100 BC and continuing as late as the 16th century.

Next you continue your drive all the way around the island through jungle interior and along stunning coastal road to the beautiful Punta Sur Eco Park, an ecological reserve on the island's southernmost tip.

Upon arrival you will visit El Caracol, a Mayan ruin which in the past, remarkably, was used as a weather warning system.

Afterwards, look for crocodiles from an observation tower and discover the Colombia Lagoon which feeds and provides balance to the coral reef formations.

Before leaving Punta Sur you get to visit the 20th century lighthouse, which is still operational, with its maritime museum.

Next, you're off to enjoy the crystal clear waters of the Caribbean for a beginner's snorkel experience.

Certified guides will provide safety tips and instruction before leading you out to see the colorful tropical fish and delightful array of sea life Cozumel has to offer.

You will have leisure time to relax and sunbathe on the beach, snorkel and discover the magnificent marine life of Palancar Reef or swing on a hammock while enjoying the incomparable view of the Mexican Caribbean.

Afterwards, enjoy a deliciously tasty Mexican style lunch including fajitas, rice, beans and tortilla chips at the ocean side restaurant.

Finally, the last stop on the way back is at El Cedral, Cozumel's very first settlement, revealing the fascinating history of Mayan culture.

Visit the small village of about 20 families and see the 150 year old church built next to a mystic ruin.

Tired and happy you'll arrive back to finish the trip downtown, where you can explore the shops and atmosphere of this lively town and head back to your hotel or ship.

$75 USD per person (adults and children) for full morning tour (9.30am). Or $65 USD per person (adults and children) for afternoon tour that doesn't include San Gervasio ruins (1.15pm).

Note: If you require a Jeep for only two people, a supplement of $40 USD will be charged. i.e. total price of $190 USD per Jeep for morning tours or $170 USD per Jeep for afternoon tours.

Location:

The meeting point is at Carlos 'n Charlies by Punta Langosta shopping mall downtown. Passengers arriving by cruise ship to Puerta Maya or the International Pier should take a taxi, a 5 minute drive. Passengers arriving to Punta Langosta Pier are walking distance away.

Duration:

Morning tour Approx. 5 hours 45 minutes. Afternoon tour approx. 5 hours. (Morning tour includes San Gervasio ruins but afternoon tour does not.)

Dates/Times:

Departures at 9.30am (morning tour) or 1.15pm (afternoon tour), Mon-Sat. Other times may be available upon request.

Notes:

  • This tour is not suitable for pregnant women or people with back injuries, asthma or epilepsy.
  • Jeeps are stickshift, drivers must present a valid licence, be at least 21 years old and may not consume alcohol.
  • Minimum age to participate in this tour is 4 years.

Bring:

Valid drivers license (drivers), comfortable clothes, light shirt with long sleeves to protect from the sun, towel, cap or hat, sandals or tennis shoes, sun block and biodegradable repellent, sun glasses, swimsuit and camera.
