lifestyle, travel This is Cozumel
It's started! Cozumel is once again wrapped in a frenzy of dancing and singing.

Carnival 2007 officially kicked off on Wednesday night, with the crowning of the Carnival King and Queen, their Highnesses Jesús el "Meco" and Karla.

Visitors to the island should brace themselves for a week long extravaganza, with costumed revellers battling in dancing competitions and bands playing live music around the city.

On Saturday night, the first Carnival Parade will pass along the seafront.

People line the streets, dancing with the performers and catching the gifts that are showered upon them.

Sunday and Monday nights see more parades along the island's promenade, before the grand finale on Fat Tuesday night.

The last seafront pass by the frenzied Carnaveleros is always a spectacular affair, with the fiesta continuing into the early hours.

The adults parading along the seafront over the coming week already have a hard act to follow.

The Children's Carnival Parade - with over 400 kindergarden and primary school kids - took over the streets downtown on Thursday morning.

The technicolor tots brought a smile to everyones faces. The junior King and Queen, their Highnesses Mauricio and Mimí, proudly showed the grown-ups how it should be done.
