As flights, cruises and tourists return to Mexico, the flu scare has become but a memory.

Some international flights were cancelled during the crisis, but last week flights from the UK, Argentina and Cuba, as well as other countries, started to return.

Cruise lines had also suspended calls in Mexico, but on May 19th, the Sun Princess traveling from Costa Rica to Acapulco was the first to return.

It was shortly followed by Royal Caribbean’s Enchantment of the Seas, which docked again in Cozumel last Wednesday, the first arrival to the island for a month.

Since then Carnival cruises and other operators have also returned and the island's cruise tourism is returning to normal.

The Mexican federal government, state governments, tourist industry officials and workers, have come together in an unprecedented campaign to accelerate the return of tourism to the country.

The L.A. Times newspaper reported last week that there are some “astounding post-flu-crisis vacation deals” available to Mexico as part of the national tourism push, Vive México.

The $92 million campaign, launched by Mexican President Felipe Calderón, unites world renowned celebrities and personalities from the business, cultural, sports, and entertainment world with the objective to reactivate national and international tourism.
