Cozumel will host the 6th annual Octoberfest dive event again this year
This week-long fun-filled scuba "extravaganza" gives divers the opportunity to explore Cozumel's amazing reefs and enjoy other exciting activities.

Organizers, the Wyndham Cozumel Resort and Spa (formerly the Reef Club) and local dive operator, Sand Dollar Sports, announced the dates yesterday.
Borrowing its name from a beer festival in the south of Germany, the Octoberfest dive event was created in 2003.
In addition to enjoying daily morning and afternoon dives, a variety of entertainment and activities will be provided throughout the celebration.
Events will start with a welcome cocktail social before continuing with nightly shows, parties and contests with special prizes.

Jeanette Chin, spokesperson for the organizers, said the event is aimed primarily at adults, rather than families.
Divers can even choose to stay at the adults-only "Sabor" area at the resort.

Activities include a costume and beach party, Broadway themed show, and the event's popular "Homemade Bikini" contest, held each year.
Participants will also get a chance to explore Cozumel by land with an off-road ATV jungle adventure, which will include a visit to the village of El Cedral and a chance to explore some of the island's cenotes and caves.
To top it all off, a sunset sailing tour is included from the resort's private pier to downtown for a special Rock Night at the island's Hard Rock Café and ending the celebrations will be an Octoberfest 2008 award ceremony where a Mr. and Mrs. Octoberfest will be crowned.
