Cozumel cruise festival
Revellers on the 2006 Jam Cruise
The aptly named MSC Lirica cruise ship is in Cozumel today as part of "Jam Cruise", a music festival at sea.

This is the 6th time the cruise has been organized and this year features live performances from Warren Haynes, Michael Franti and Spearhead, and many others.

Harp Magazine described the great atmosphere at the 2006 Jam Cruise when they said "artists and fans happily rubbed elbows and shared moments like old-school pals".

Mark Brown, organizer of the 2008 event, stressed the importance of this artist-fan intimacy when speaking to the New York Times. He explained how passengers loved to mix with the musicians. "Everybody has a backstage pass," he told the Big Apple daily.

The five day cruise started from Fort Lauderdale last Friday and from Cozumel will continue to Roatan in Honduras tomorrow, before returning to Port Everglades in the US on Wednesday.
