A new direct flight from Monterrey, in the north of Mexico, landed in Cozumel for the first time earlier this month.

The flight is operated on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays by VivaAerobus and takes about 2¼ hours.

The pilot of the first flight was Captain Alejandro Ramos Sanz, himself from Cozumel. He made the maiden trip with his wife, Marcela Andrade Sánchez, as First Officer.

148 seat Boeing 737-300 aircraft are being used for the new "bridge" between the two cities.

VivaAerobus was set up by Mexican industrial developers IAMSA and RyanMex, a spin-off from low-cost airline Ryanair in Europe.

Visit the VivaAerobus website or see our Transport section for more information and to make reservations for Cozumel flights and airlines or Cozumel airport transfers.
