Delicious local food is being promoted in a competition to find Cozumel’s favorite recipes.
The contest is open to locals over the age of 50, in an effort preserve and revive traditional family dishes.

Organized by the local government and "Hábitat", a Mexican Federal social development program, cash prizes will be awarded to the top three family favorites from a pot of at least 6,000 pesos ($570).
The entries will be judged by a panel of professional chefs on the basis of taste, presentation and originality.
