Jimmy Buffett's Margaritaville in Cozumel
Caribbean pirate theme.
A new restaurant and bar opened on the seafront downtown last night - Jimmy Buffett's Margaritaville.

The venue, which is set to be busy with tourists day and night, is part of a chain owned by famous US singer-songwriter, Jimmy Buffett.

The air-conditioned bar and restaurant includes a decked terrace area outside, overlooking the port.

The new venue also has a large store, selling a range of Margaritaville merchandise.

The opening party was attended by Gustavo Ortega Joaquín, Mayor of Cozumel, and Félix González Canto, State Governor of Quintana Roo.

Costumed performers dressed as pirates gave the event a real swashbuckling Caribbean theme, as the DJ played music from within the gapes of a giant shark's jaws.

The Margaritaville group also has locations in nearby Cancun, as well as Key West, New Orleans, Orlando, Charleston, Las Vegas, Myrtle Beach, Jamaica, Turks and Caicos and Grand Cayman.

See more about Margaritaville in our Restaurants section.
