Tourist Information - Transport

There are 4 main piers in Cozumel. The downtown Ferry Pier is used for passenger ferries to Playa del Carmen and sometimes for cruise ship tenders.

Punta Langosta, the International Pier (SSA) and Puerta Maya are the three cruise ship piers. The International Pier is also used for car ferries to the mainland.

At the moment Puerta Maya is being rebuilt, so cruise ships can't dock but it is still open for tenders. It is expected to fully re-open in 2009.

There are also plans to widen the International Pier so it can receive the new giant "Genesis-class" cruise ships from 2010.

Punta Langosta is just south of downtown, a 5-10 minute walk to the main square. The International Pier and Puerta Maya are further south, a 5-10 minute taxi ride from the main square.

Taxis and mini-vans are available at all the piers.
