Since Wilma passed, Luh and Moises from the Magic of Design have been furniture doctors on call. They run a furniture and interior design business in Cozumel and have been helping clients repair damaged vacation homes.
Hopefully you won’t need them, but just in case, here are their top tips for restoring interiors..!
- After drying out leather, gently apply a special moisturizing cream to restore the finish.
- Clean wood damaged by salt water with a damp - not wet - cloth. Once clean and dry, regularly apply locally available aceite rojo (red furniture oil) to return the wood's lustre.
- Be patient with warped solid wood furniture, allow it time to dry thoroughly. If it doesn't return to its original form a carpenter may be able to glue, nail or peg it back into shape.
