Around 40 professional divers and 4 boats are being used to clean up the reef post-Wilma, says Por Esto! newspaper today. Robert Cudney Bueno, Director of Cozumel's Marine Park, said that although there was obvious damage from the hurricane, the coral eco-system continues to function well and diverse marine life is still abundant.
The divers come from a range of dive businesses that are working together to clean debris from the reef and ocean floor. Starting early in the morning, they will continue cleaning for another week with assistance from Martín Gaspar Aguilar Pereira, owner of Dive With Martín, said the Mexican paper.
