The final repairs are being made over the weekend to have the seafront and downtown areas ready for the first two cruise ships to return tomorrow, writes Por Esto! newspaper. Roads are being cleaned, gardens tidied and street lighting reinstalled and switched on.
The paper quotes Gustavo Ortega Joaquín, the Mayor of Cozumel, who said "Cozumel has shown that it is greater than a category five hurricane" and that the island will emerge better than ever.
