Cozumel News - 2005 Archive
Dec 24, 2005

Mexican archaeologists are excited about an anchor that has been discovered by divers on the sea bed near Cozumel. Revealed by the passage of Hurricane Wilma, the maritime relic is thought to date back to the 1800s - the age of steam.

Experts say the anchor may be related to previous historic finds in Palancar. Academics from the Mexican National Institute of Anthropology and History are now trying to verify its origin with the help of Cozumel's Marine Park.
