Casa Denis

Serving food on the square downtown for over 90 years, this is surely Cozumel's oldest remaining restaurant.

Original recipes from the Yucatan region of Mexico, including tacos and empanadas.

El Capi Navegante

El Moro

This restaurant is off the beaten track and has interesting decor, but the Mexican menu is scrumptious.

Try specialities like the Pollo Ticuleño, a dish from the Mexican town of Ticul made of mashed potatoes, crunchy maize tortilla, tomato suace and fried chicken breast, topped with peas and cheese - delicious.

El Perro Verde - Green Dog

El Perro Verde - or Green Dog - is Cozumel's newest downtown café.

Once you stop laughing at the green papier-mâché canine greeting you from above the doorway, step inside for a scrumptious home-made vegetarian menu.

As well as an artistic sense of humor and great food, this eco-eatery offers the best chai on the island and a space to relax and make new friends.

Hard Rock Café

Possibly the smallest Hard Rock café in the world!

Great for food, drink and - of course - music. Complementing the usual rock music paraphernalia is an original ceiling mural of a vast underwater setting.

Jeanie's Restaurant

Formerly known as Jeanie's Waffle house, this beach front restaurant downtown serves American-style breakfasts and dinner in the evening too.

Take in the ocean views as you enjoy your meal.

La Choza

Authentic homemade Mexican food cooked to perfection for over fifteen years.

La Choza Restaurant was established in 1989 by Doña Eliza Espinosa and her Family from Guanajuato, Mexico.

Using only classic recipes from Doña Eliza's mother, the restaurant soon became a favorite for a reasonably priced breakfast, lunch, dinner and late-night snacks.

Today, they keep the central Mexican cuisine authentic and La Choza remains famous amongst locals, divers, cruise ship passengers and other visitors to the island.

La Cocay

No other restaurant in Cozumel offers a menu quite like La Cocay.

La Misión

Good selection of traditional local and Mexican dishes, BBQ grill, great value, pleasant surroundings.

La Veranda

Mouth-watering Mexican and Caribbean food served in the restaurant, on the veranda or in the delightful gardens.

Superb service, original menu and if you catch your own fish they'll even cook it for you.

Lobster House

Lobster, lobster and more lobster!

Over 20 years of experience preparing delicious fresh lobster in Cozumel, and still by the same chefs.

Just choose your lobster and pay for what it weighs.

Location: Carretera Costera Norte (north coast highway) opposite Playa Azul Hotel, before the golf course, about 5 minutes drive from downtown.

Los Dorados De Villa

This popular restaurant and bar is right on the main square downtown, so it's always busy with island visitors and locals alike.

The menu is traditional Mexican, with dishes such as enchiladas, fajitas, tacos, guacamole, fish and steak. You can eat inside in the cozy dining room or out on the terrace overlooking the square.

Great on Sunday evenings, when live music plays and people dance in the plaza.

Location: Parque Benito Juarez (main square) - south side.

Los Otates

Los Otates, traditional maize tortilla tacos with a variety of delicious meat fillings. Local rustic atmosphere. Other local specialities also available.

Location: Avenida 15 between Calle Salas and Calle 3.


Margaritaville
Margaritaville in Cozumel
Pirates, food and drink.
  Margaritaville, which is busy with tourists day and night, is part of a chain owned by famous US singer-songwriter, Jimmy Buffett.

The air-conditioned party-themed bar and restaurant includes a decked terrace area overlooking the port.

It also has a store, selling a range of Margaritaville merchandise.

Margaritaville Cozumel has 500 seats and sits directly on the Caribbean Sea. It has a tiki bar on the water's edge and a second floor view.

At night you can see the lights of Playa del Carmen. During the day the cruise ships dock a few hundred yards away.

The Margaritaville group also has locations in nearby Cancun, as well as Key West, New Orleans, Orlando, Charleston, Las Vegas, Myrtle Beach, Jamaica, Turks and Caicos and Grand Cayman.

Taqueria El Amigo Mario

If you want to experience some real local Mayan food off the beaten track, this no frills restaurant serves tacos (filled maize tortillas) and tortas (a type of sandwich) with cochinita pibil Sundays to Fridays and lechon al horno on Saturdays.

Cochinita pibil is pork marinaded in orange juice and Mayan spices and lechon al horno is a kind of Mayan roast suckling pig. The meat is cooked fresh daily and the flavors and prices are fantastic.

The Coffee Bean

Tony Rome's

Also known fondly as the Embassy Restaurant and Supper Club, US recording artist, Tony Rome, has been serving great food, solving problems and entertaining visitors on the island for years.

Tony has many customers who return year-after-year, and with such familiar service and friendly atmosphere it's no wonder.

The extensive US-Mexican-Italian-seafood menu includes tender imported K.C. beef for those melt-in-your-mouth steaks and a Key Lime Pie that people have been known to fight for.
