Two new sculptures were officially inaugurated by Gustavo Ortega Joaquín, Mayor of Cozumel, at a ceremony last week.
"Turtle and Children Playing" and "Girl and Turtle" are the new monuments on the seafront downtown.
The art forms part of a program aimed at recovering Cozumel's "traditional, picturesque, historical image."

The Cozumel Humane Society raised $3,500 (36,000 pesos) at its annual dinner, said Monica Velasco, the animal charity's President, last week.
The money will be used for medications, medical supplies and some much-needed repairs.
